Everyone struggles with mental health at least once in their life, especially athletes. The 2021 Tokyo Olympics drew a shock across the nation when American gymnast Simone Biles withdrew from the competition. She did not want her mental health to cause her to get physically injured. Many people did not support her decision because “she’s the greatest gymnast in the world.” However, mental health is a serious issue that needs to be addressed regarding all athletes, professional or not. I wanted to bring awareness to what certain Olympians had to say about the pressure of being the greatest of all time (GOAT). I decided to do a pastiche of Alan Fletcher’s “I Have Nothing to Say and I’m Saying It” with four Olympic athletes that have spoken on mental health issues. The athletes that I chose were Simone Biles, Michael Phelps, Noah Lyles, and Cat Osterman. For each poster, the athlete is shouting a quote they have said regarding the pressure the world puts on them. The backgrounds each resemble a color of the Olympic rings, and there is a website on each poster where athletes can seek help concerning their own mental health issues. In addition, the Olympic logo and mental health organization logo are added to the bottom right corner.
